Tempe House July 2009

Tempe House has finally been opened since it was totally restored last year, this will be the first time this historic colonial building has been opened since 1989 when the Rockdale District Heritage Association held an open day which was attended by several hundred people. Back then the building was run down and had many unsympathetic alterations and additions. Well all this has now changed the house and its out buildings have all been restored back to around the 1845 period when the house would have been occupied. They have also restored the adjoining Chapel and Mount Olympus, so if you get the chance to have a look don't miss it the restoration work is the best we have seen and is a real credit to all those tradesman who work on this project. I hope the following photos will show you this beautiful historic home and some of the grounds if you did not get the chance to get there personally. It is definately the "Jewel" in the crown of Rockdale City and something all residents should be very proud of.
